David W. Hands Esq.
About
As a teenager, David W. Hands, Esq., witnessed his mother lowballed by an insurance company after his brother was slammed into by a taxi cab, struck off of his bicycle, and left with a gash across his head. David’s mother knew that the $600 offer from the insurance company was far too low to accept, but she did not know how to navigate a personal injury claim or how to access an attorney to maximize compensation for her son.
While David’s mother focused on her son’s recovery, the insurance company sat idle while the medical bills piled on top of each other. When later seeking help for a recovery against the insurance company, the statute of limitations had ran. A recovery was no longer possible. David’s mother was left with nothing to cover neither her son’s medical bills nor pain and suffering.
After graduating from Fayetteville State University, David earned his juris doctor with high honors, magna cum laude, from North Carolina Central University School of Law (“NCCU”). While at NCCU, David was a Thurgood Marshall Scholar, NCCU Foundation Scholar, Contracts Teaching Assistant, and Senior Editor of the prestigious NCCU Law Review.
David also worked brief stints as a summer associate with the following legal employers: (1) Parker, Poe, Adams & Bernstein, LLP; (2) Moore & Van Allen; and (3) First Union's legal department, which is now Wells Fargo.
After passing the North Carolina Bar Examination, David gained invaluable experience as an antitrust Attorney with the Federal Trade Commission in Washington, D.C. While there, he worked with a team of attorneys and economists evaluating the competitive effects of multi-million dollar mergers/acquisitions in the petroleum and pipeline industries.
As founder of Hands Law Firm, David is dedicated to fighting for the rights of the people who suffer life-changing injuries in car, truck, and motorcycle accidents as well as other types of personal injury. Hands Law Firm is grateful to serve the North Carolina community, hold wrongdoers accountable, and prevent what happened to David’s mom from happening to others.
